Rosanna Gorge & Stiegenegg Chapel

Accompanied by the rushing waters of Rosanna River, the tour starts off in a westerly direction from St. Anton along a gently ascending hiking trail. Secured walkways through the Rosanna Gorge allow visitors to enjoy the thrilling experience of watching the raging waters. Shortly after the U-turn in the Verwall Trail, the path climbs a little to the Stiegenegg Chapel, which sits enthroned atop a rocky cliff. Commemorative plaques can be found here, so-called “Marteln”, in memory of the many people who tragically lost their lives here while working chopping trees or falling rocks in Verwall.
