Christmas Magic

"Adventzauber" in St. Anton am Arlberg - Just like it used to be

Most people can look back on magical childhood memories of excitedly looking forward to Christmas. The eager anticipation, wonderment, lights and sweet fragrances. These feelings can be relived in St. Anton am Arlberg. „Advent Magic in the Park“ a Christmas theme trail for all age groups invite you to savour the festive run-up to Christmas.

St. Anton am Arlberg is hosting „Advent Magic in the Park“ during christmas time this year – the polar opposite to busy crowds, market stalls and rush to buy presents. A better place than the local museum with its surrounding winter Holiday Park could hardly be found for rediscovering almost forgotten Christmas rituals.

Open fireplaces and themed areas invite you to linger and join in. The Christmas theme trail takes visitors past oversized silhouettes and a sea of lit candles to the “Christmas photo corner”, where everyone can design their own personal greeting cards. Children too can enjoy joining in the busy handicraft sessions at the elves workshops in the afternoons. Those wanting to experience Christmas just like it used to be, should visit one of the rustic log cabins and listen to festive stories and poems from St. Anton, recited in local dialect. And what would Advent be without Christmas cookies? Tantalizing scents permeate the museum at coffee time when the local baker tries out his traditional recipes with the children.

A special ambience, without doubt, is provided by the life-size nativity scene at the Mühltobel Gorge and the sound of brass bands. Guests can also immerse themselves in a completely different world away from the Holiday Park: at the traditional Christmas Market in St. Anton, or at one of the numerous events in the surrounding communities of Pettneu, Flirsch and Strengen. No later than when everyone joins in to sing Christmas carols will that wonderful feeling will creep back up on you: the one of magical childhood memories.
